in a class by itself = "sui generis" [sic]
Sui generis is a (post) Latin expression, literally meaning of its own kind/genus or unique in its characteristics. [1] The expression was effectively created by scholastic philosophy to indicate an idea, an entity or a reality that cannot be included in a wider concept. In the structure "genus → species" a species that heads its own genus is sui generis. The phrase is pronounced "SOO-ee GEN-er-ihs."

Episode 3
If anything will be the undoing of the show it will be the lack of time spent in a car. If it becomes a show about the personal lives of these 4 Carpool dudes then it won't make it. What say the group

Carpool SITCOM
This is DASH back from my blog hiatus. Thanks to Chester for keeping some momentum on the blog (everyone has someone who is their Chester). Last week I saw the advertisement on ABC for the Carpoolers sitcom...I feel so cheated. Roughly October 2006, we had the same idea. We figured we could come up with at least a season's worth of material about the commute of Juicy, Chester, and Dash...we even picked out which actors would best portray us. no, Cousin It was not playing Chester. In our version, it would be a reality show feel overlayed on a sitcom. Three different cars depending on who was driving...even guest cars (General Lee or the A-Team van). The entire episode would take place in the car or at the places our carpool stops...including all of the drive-in windows. There would be the calls from our wives (one-sided of course) with Chester and Juicy trying to interpret Dash's responses to determine if he was in trouble with Household 6. There would be Chester's bookmarking to previouse episodes and themes...Juicy's "carpool" mentoring...carpool profiling...establishment of the carpool rules (including the point system). Cameos would take care of the occasional carpool club extension or honorary members. Of course A/C would be on to make sure Chester doesn't overheat...real, portrayed, or imagined.
Just goes to show that there are rarely unique ideas...only a few individuals that will act upon them. Thanks to Mad_Ned for giving us kudos on the ABC blog (link in yesterday's posting).

"Carpoolers" [sic] hit the screen as ABC "art" [sic] imitates us!
- Sometimes art imitates life, sometimes life imitates art, but the two are not mutually exclusive...
