Here goes the "Holy War" [sic]

Editor's Note: Received email(+/-) below from a "former brother" [sic]. Not ready... Date: Jun 6, 2007 6:47 PM Subject: Six Issues About the Messiah? Six issues: 1) I am switching this email thread to my aol account, b/c I think it more personal than professional. 2) I am only emailing you and not the "carjacking club" [sic] you are in. If you wish to include them, that is up to you. 3) Jesus of Nazareth fulfilled ALL of the over 300 prophecies of our Old Testament (your Torah). For example, how can you deny that Jesus was born in Bethlehem, born of the line of Judah, and killed exactly like it was described in Isaiah's Chapter 53? Our New Testament is VERY much supported by archaeological evidence, historical evidence, and circumstantial evidence. 4) The first followers of Christ were Jews. They were devout and practicing Jews, then turned there backs on that and were killed for expressing their belief that Jesus rose from the dead for the sins of all mankind. 5) This whole thing about the Messiah comes down to either you are right or we followers of Christ are right. It is exclusive, b/c we believe what Jesus said, "No one gets to the Father (Yahweh, the Name, the Creator, etc) except through me." I am paraphrasing, but without a repentant belief in Jesus as our own personal Lord and Savior, then we will not experience Heaven. 8) I hope these rantings do not irritate you and that you check out what I have referred to. There are many Jews who investigated the correlation between OT (Torah) prophecies about the Messiah and Jesus. Many are now what we call Messianic Jews (believe in Jesus as the Messiah and that he indeed died for our sins... the last Lamb sacrificed for our transgressions). 9) I pray you investigate also. I do not believe our reconnection via email (then phone) then email again, was a coincidence. I believe I may be the one who was to witness to you about the Truth with a capital "T". 10) I prayed for you back at 3); such that my rantings might find a receptive heart beating in your huge, manly chest. 6) I cannot count too well. Hugs again,

  1. 1) Migrated this thread to the blog, b/c I think it's so rich [sic].

    2) Thank you for permission to include the "carjacking club" [sic].

    3) Why would I deny anyone's birth, bloodline, or death? Why even ask?

    4) What do you mean by your assertion that "The first followers...were devout and...then turned their backs on that..." ?

    5) "This whole thing...comes down to either you are right or we...are right." How does this logic differ from the President's: "You're either with us or you're against us" ?

    8) How do "Messianic Jews" differ from "Jews for Jesus"?

    9) "I do not believe our reconnection via email (then phone) then email again, was a coincidence." "Was"? Why not "is"?

    10) I welcome your "rantings" [sic]

    6) Counting can be tricky, esp. in different bases.

Big Bear Hugs right back at you,

  2. I don't understand your logic in statement #5..President's logic.

Are you insinuating that the President's logic was flawed? Why not be open to the possibility that the statement "with us or...against us" [sic] was an intended (unsuccessfull) marketing campaign?

Either way, drawing it into this conversation is nothing more than a blatant attempt to get a looney from the Daily Kos or some off the chart leftist blogger engaged. [sic]

  3. Is it logical to filter complex nuances through a binary lens? Why not consider the possibility that both the politicians and the evangelicals have a common methodology in "marketing campaigns"?

  4. One might suggest complex things are translated into binary all the time, such as this blog over the many wires and transmission paths of the internet

  5. Point(s) for the binary suggestion, but consider the question(s) in terms of absolutes: right vs. wrong, black vs. white, yes vs. no, "you're either with us or you're against us", either you are right or we are right", etc.

  6. From a scientific perspective, everything right or wrong. Because right is defined as provable. Wrong is that it is impossible to prove or a proof can be done to show it is incorrect. I don't believe either side is fully provable. People have beliefs they inject both ways, so I believe that it can neither be right or wrong according to the scientific definition.

  7. 3) Why would I deny anyone's birth, bloodline, or death? Why even ask?
B/c there are many who deny much about Jesus. Few debate the validity of books written about Alexander even though the first work was over 500 years after the events. The New Testament about Jesus and the first Apostles were written 20-70 years after the events, yet, much is debated therein unfortunately.

    4) What do you mean by your assertion that "The first followers...were devout and...then turned their backs on that..." ?
Turned their backs on trying to obey the "Law" and jewish customs. A couple of examples were that they changed their Sabbath to Sunday, they stopped worrying about cerimonial washing, they believed Gentiles were included in the plan of Salvation that Jesus preached, and they went to their deaths believing and preaching about Jesus' death, resurrection, and being the Savior for all mankind who would accept the sacrifice Jesus made for us.

    5) "This whole thing...comes down to either you are right or we...are right." How does this logic differ from the President's: "You're either with us or you're against us" ?
You did not answer my question. You tried to divert from our theological discussion to a political one. Christianity is exclusive; Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." That is why I say either we are right (and anyone who does not believe is thereby wrong) or we are wrong.

    8) How do "Messianic Jews" differ from "Jews for Jesus"?
None. Jews for Jesus are Messianic Jews. They have examined the Jewish Scriptures and see that Jesus was indeed the Messiah and that belief in Him is the one and only key to Salvation.

Please post to your blog janker (if you wish)

  8. Subject: God Does Exist

WHAT A GREAT ANALOGY OF GOD FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW, BY ROBIN WILLIAMS NO LESS.
This is one of the best explanations of why God allows pain and suffering that I have seen. It's an explanation other people will understand.

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects.

When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber
said: "I don't believe that God exists."

"Why do you say that?" asked the customer.
"Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine loving a God who would allow all of these things."

The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.
Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and un-kept.

The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: "You know what? Barbers do not exist."

"How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber. "I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!"

"No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."

"Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is, people do not come to me."

    "Exactly!"- affirmed the customer.
"That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens, is, people don't go to Him and do not look for Him. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."
